Division Four South West

Cwmgors 32 Cefn Cribbwr 10

Cwmgors came through another tough encounter with a valuable bonus point following another excellent all round team performance.

Playing against the breeze in the first half, the hosts fell behind to an early penalty, but some neat passing among the forwards created the opening for man-of-the-match Gethin Bugler to go in under the posts. Steff Rees converted.

With the hosts in the ascendancy, the forwards earned good possession and spread the ball wide where full-back Connor Edgecumbe burst through the line to race in for a touchdown.

The Cherries dominated after the break with the wind at their backs.

Rees knocked over a penalty before the outstanding Bugler made the yards and the No8 put second row Liam Jones in for the try.

Cwmgors were now sniffing the crucial bonus point and, from a five-metre scrum, the pack got the rumble on and Bugler was on hand to finish off. Rees again converted and sealed matters with another penalty with the last kick of the game.

On top of Bugler’s starring role, Liam Jones and Rhodri Rees put in an excellent shift in the Cwm front eight.

With leaders Green Stars losing to third-placed Nantyffyllon, the Cherries now sit two points behind the Aberavon side with two games in hand.

Cwmgors will look to take top spot when they host Briton Ferry on Wednesday, April 23.

They then travel to Pyle on Saturday.
