Division Five West

Neyland 23 Pantyffynnon 20

Pantyffynnon’s trip west proved a case of what might have been, as a missed penalty from halfway by Nick James in the last play denied a deserved draw.

Panty struck early with a penalty, but the hosts hit back with two of their own and a charged-down kick gave Neyland a 11-3 half-time lead.

With a few personnel changes in the Panty back division, the bigger home pack was ruthless as they ran hard down the wide channels to tie in the Panty speed.

A further two tries from the hosts had the home fans expecting a bonus win, but that was as good as it got for the Pembrokshire boys, as in the last quarter the bigger side were out on their feet as Panty’s better fitness came into play.

The visitors attacked at every opportunity and crossed for tries through Sion Aled Higgins, Aled Williams and Lee Rees.

The clock however went against Panty as Neyland were thankful of the final whistle as there would surely have been only one winner had play continued any longer.
