Division Three West

Tycroes 41 Haverfordwest 10

Tycroes entertained Haverfordwest in their last home game of the season and ran out comfortable winners over the Pembrokeshire side.

Kicking off in the wind Tycroes set about taking the game to the visitors, but it was the Long Necks that crossed the whitewash first when Mathew Morgan rounded the defence to score, Craig Barnett added the extras.

Having received the wake-up call and with club captain Richie Williams making his first start since September, the home pack began to dominate.

After the visitors conceded several penalties on their own line the referee awarded a penalty try on 15 minutes, which Carwyn Richards converted, and it was one-way traffic from vthen on.

Aaron Price scored a try on 19 minutes, converted by Richards, after a bulldozing run by Steffan Jones took play into the visitors’ 22. Price steered the resulting scrum over the line.

Scott Bowen added a third on 28 minutes after being put clear by Dylan Cooper.

With Haverfordwest adding a penalty to their tally, Tycroes went into the interval 19-10 up.

The hosts went in search of a bonus point after the restart with the game swinging back and forth as the visitors looked dangerous with ball in hand.

The home defence held firm however and Richards squeezed a penalty over on 48 minutes.

With time running out, Tycroes emptied the bench as Jason Rosser replaced Richie Williams at hooker, Mikey Hopkins came in for Lemon and Trystan Morgan replaced player coach Aled Griffiths.

The changes sparked new life into the team and a quickly-taken penalty by Mathew James, caught the visitors on the hop, allowing James to dive over. Richards added the extras.

With the bonus secure, Hopkins added another try with Richards again adding the extras.

Hopkins claimed a second following a sweeping Tycroes move late on.

With two away games remaining Tycroes are now consolidated in fourth position and they travel to Penclawdd on Saturday.
