Division Four South West

Betws 10 Cefn Cribwr 13

Following a heavy defeat to league leaders Aberavon Green Stars, Betws put in a much improved performance against mid-table Cefn Cribwr and came away disappointed not to get a much needed win.

Betws started strongly with back row forward Daniel Marshall putting in another impressive man of the match performance while young wing Daniel Thomas put the homesters ahead with an early penalty.

Cefn Cribwr, playing with the elements in the first half, responded with two penalties from their scrum-half to claim a 6-3 half time advantage.

Unfortunately for the homesters they allowed Cefn to extend their lead with a converted try after only two minutes of the second half following a strong scrum 25 metres out.

Betws proceeded to dominate the second half and reduced the deficit with a try from No8 Cerith Lilburn following a five-metre scrum midway through the half.

But they were unable to breach the visiting defence again and a missed long-range penalty late in the game was their only chance to take a share of the points.

On Saturday, Betws will be hoping to have a few more college boys available for their trip to Pyle.
