Carmarthenshire Reserve Division Two

Pontarddulais 2 Ammanford 3

Following difficult losses to the league’s top two, Ammanford faced Pontarddulais in a bottom-half tie.

In difficult conditions, Ammanford started poorly and the hosts opened the scoring within five minutes and added a second soon after.

Ammanford improved towards the end of the half with wingers Elgan Griffiths and Jake Webb both having efforts saved, but the hosts maintained their 2-0 lead into the interval.

Ammanford started the second half the better, with the defence of Dylan Thomas, Jack Conway, Joe Kinsey and Scott Vobe all making strong tackles and vital interceptions.

The hosts pressed forward in search of a third, but Darren Warnes was equal to any task in goal.

Ammanford pulled one back through a cool Dan Quick finish from a long punt from Warnes, and suddenly Ammanford began playing with more belief.

A second goal came via the penalty spot after Quick was fouled in the box. Dylan Thomas slotted past the keeper from 12 yards.

With the momentum swinging in the visitors’ favour, the winner came when a Lloyd Bevan through ball sent Quick one-on-one.

The hitman finished calmly passed the keeper to seal an incredible comeback with Bevan getting a deserved assist after a dogged display at defensive midfield.

Victory should now have cemented Ammanford’s status in Reserve Division Two before they conclude their season away to Kidwelly.
