Tal-y-Coppa 1 Ammanford 15

Ammanford clinched the West Wales Girls U14s title in style with an emphatic 15-1 win at bottom-side Tal-y-Coppa.

In their final league fixture of the season and requiring just a single point to ensure they held on to the trophy, Ammanford started the game with a bang and went ahead within five minutes.

Following some good work down the right, the ball fell to Ela Roberts and her firm shot found the net from close range.

Roberts followed up two minutes later, firing home after a Celyn Lazenby effort rebounded into her path.

Ammanford played some fine football throughout with the outstanding Nia Rees in sparkling form and netting a fabulous four goals tally.

Goal of the game however came courtesy of Lucy Packer who picked the ball up just inside the hosts’ half and beat several defenders with a mazy run before smashing an effort from the edge of the box.

Chantel Mann capped a wonderful team goal with a superb header after some neat passing got Ammanford out of trouble on the edge of their own box. The ball was eve4ntually played to Louise Palmer whose precision pass sent Aimee Heath scampering down the flank before finding an inch perfect cross for the unmarked Mann to power home. Mann went on to claim yet another scintillating hat-trick.

Captain Ffion Morgan scored a fabulous 25-yard right-foot strike which whizzed into the top corner for the skipper’s first goal of the season.

Heath added two goals with her left-foot before turning provider again when her corner found Palmer on the penalty spot to bullet a header into the net.

Emma Landek, Ebony Danter, Alisha Jones, Lowri Williams and Melissa Mann all put in great performances as Ammanford served up a feast of great football on the day to climax a fantastic season.

The girls have played a consistently high standard of football all season – earning four West Wales Regional call-ups - and thoroughly deserved to life the trophy as West Wales Women’s and Girls’ Football League U14s champions.

The girls are now awaiting confirmation of the date of their West Wales Girls U14s Cup final, likely to be played at Richmond Park, Carmarthen.
