Division Four South West

Betws 15 Briton Ferry 25

Briton Ferry exposed the inexperience of the youthful homesters as they continued to take wrong options and play into the hands of a larger and experienced visiting pack.

Betws started with great endeavour but again mistakes cost points and the visitors steadily took control with two-long range penalties, plus a converted interception try to give them a 13-0 half time lead.

Betws continued to be tactically naive in the second half as they failed to use the strong breeze at their backs.

When they did eventually spread the ball wide young wing Dan Thomas showed great ability to beat his opposite number with a 40-metre try to pull Betws back into the game. Unfortunately another converted interception try sealed the homesters fate.

Elusive running by full back Steffan Howells earned Betws another try, but again the bigger visiting pack combined to storm the home line to extend the lead again.

In the last play of the game Thomas again demonstrated his pace to grab a second try but unfortunately it was too little too late for the homesters.

Betws have a difficult trip to title-chasing Aberavon Green Stars this Saturday.
