High-flying Llandybie karate student Liam Thomas earned a bronze medal while competing in his first Welsh Kumite (sparring) Championship in Cardiff recently.

Liam has achieved the rank of Fourth Kyu with Higashi Karate Kougars Club.

The club trains in Llandybie each week.

Liam’s instructor, Sensei Susy Soravia said: “Liam has worked hard every week at training and seeing him just going for it at the championship is an inspiration.”

Sensei Susy Soravia has been promoted to National Welsh Judge.
