Welsh League Division Two

Caerau 1 Ammanford 7

Ammanford, after the 6-0 loss away to Garden Village last week, faced another away trip with a visit to Caerau.

The bottom-placed side are facing a battle to survive as a Welsh League club.

With Matthew and Rhys Fisher unavailable along with Luke Fayres, Ammanford faced a shock on ten minutes when – against the run of play - the hosts took the lead.

Ammanford continued to take the game to the home team and equalised on 30 minutes when Caerau boy Rhys Owen headed in from a corner.

Five minutes later Ammanford went ahead when the home keeper failed to keep out Chris Hyde’s well-struck effort.

Ammanford continued to play their attacking style and went 3-1 up through Owen James on 40 minutes. James made four on the half-time whistle.

The visitors continued on the front foot after the break and Hyde claimed his second on 55 minutes to round off a smart passing move.

James bagged his hat-trick on 70 minutes giving Owen James with an angled strike and James Murray completed the scoring with ten minutes left.

Ammanford face another away trip when they visit mid-table AFC Llwydcoed on Saturday before finally returning to the green, green grass of home for the visit of Croesyceiliog on March 29.
