West Glamorgan Women’s and Girls Football League
U14 League Cup Semi-Final Fixture
Ammanford 6 Llanybydder 0
Cup holders Ammanford sealed a place in their third successive final to keep alive the chance of a league and cup double with a great win and an excellent team performance.
In a hard-fought and evenly balanced game, the deadlock was broken midway through the first half when Lucy Packer’s neat threaded pass released Chantel Mann to smash in the first goal.
Ammanford pressed straight from the kick-off to win the ball and put Mann through to power in her second of the morning.
The hosts continued to create chances and went close to extending their lead several times before the interval.
The second half started with a rare chance for Llanybydder, who played some neat football to work a one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but a tame effort left Lowri Williams with a simple save.
The game was effectively over when Ella Roberts’ flicked header sent Mann scampering past the opposition defence to fire home her third - her fifth hat-trick for the season.
Ammanford maintained the pressure with some good tackling and very good play from Nia Rees whose skilful jinking runs from midfield resulted in two fine goals. Ammanford sealed the victory when Louise Palmer leapt to aim a well-placed header into the top corner after a cross from Packer, who finished with three assists. Llanybydder continued to battle and kept the back four of Ffion Morgan, Megan Morris, Mellissa Mann and Celyn Lazenby on their toes.
Aimee Heath and substitutes Alyesha Jones and Emma Landek all put in solid performances.
