Ynysmeudwy Athletic 1 Ystradgynlais 2

Ynysmeudwy entertained Ystradgynlais in a local derby and were unlucky not too have won, writes Brian Lewis.

The hosts applied plenty of pressure after the interval, but it was the visitors who went ahead early in the first half.

After the break, Athletic levelled with a goal from Jonny McClelland.

The hosts were also delighted to welcome back Anthony Price who put on a man-of-the-match performance in midfield after returning from an 18-month absence due to injury.

The hosts battled hard and gave a good defensive showing after the break, including a number of fine saves from young keeper Calum Rees.

But with just two minutes remaining, the visitors claimed the points with a late goal.

On Saturday, Ynys host FC Clydach. The club’s second string travel to Ynysygwern.
