Division Four West

Milford Haven 13 Penybanc 47

Banc headed west with several regulars missing once again but were still way to strong for a Milford side with only one win all season.

In great conditions, both sides seemed up for it after a tough opening quarter.

The Banc scrum was totally dominant from the word go but it was Milford that opened the scoring with a well struck penalty.

Good work from centre Christian Hughes and full back Wayne Williams then saw wing Wayne Price open Banc’s account. Fly half Owen Higgins added the extras.

Williams then got one of his own with another trademark finish from the veteran with Higgins once again on target.

It was now all Penybanc and acting scrum half Geraint Evans was next up, grabbing a try from the back off a powerful scrum from the away pack.

Flying wing Steffan Thomas, playing on permit, secured the bonus point with a powerful 60-yard burst. Higgins improved on both tries for a 28-0 half-time lead.

Milford started the second half with renewed vigour and managed to grab a try early on after the interval.

But it was back to business from the kick off with scrum half Evans finding Price who went on a mazy run to the line.

He then capped a man of the match performance with yet another classy finish.

Sandwiched between the two was another fine solo try, this time by the mercurial Higgins who ended up with a 17-point haul.

This was a fine team effort with the set-piece dominant from start to finish and the Banc back division in scintillating form.

Lock Darren Davies had another great game and the back row of skipper Adrian Pugh and the Harris brothers had an industrious afternoon.

Banc are on the road again Saturday as they travel to Laugharne.
