Ynysmeudwy travelled to Glynneath Town and came away with a point but they were unlucky not to claim all three after they took a second half lead thanks to a well-taken Calum Jones effort.
The hosts levelled late on and dominated the final stages as they went in search of a winner but Athletic held out thanks to excellent defensive work from Dylan Jones and Connor David.
Athletic are away again next week when they take the short trip to Ystradgynlais in the first round of the Reserve Division One Cup (KO 2pm, players to meet at 12.45pm).
Athleitc’s Premier Division side saw their game against Park Travellers was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
Next week they are due to host Cwm Wanderers in the Open Cup second round.
