Ammanford U14s 2 Llandovery U14s 1

After weeks of cancelled games due to the poor weather, Ammanford returned to league action with the visit of Llandovery as the two bottom sides in the Carmarthenshire U14s league looked to belatedly kickstart their campaigns.

The hosts started the brighter and used their neat passing football to exploit the talents of Harry Thomas and Tom Evans on the wings.

Nathan Thomas and Rhodri Bowen had a number of attempts to break the deadlock, but the Llandovery keeper proved up to the task each time.

The visitors created a number of chances of their own only to Ben Rees produce another outstanding performance in the Ammanford goal.

The sides went into the half-time interval with the game poised at 0-0 and both teams desperate to claim the advantage.

The second half started with Ammanford again dominating possession as defenders Jac Price, Ciaran Slee, Scott Jones and Jack Beech provided a solid platform for those ahead of them.

The deadlock was finally broken when Kian Sheridan played in Sion Davies down the right flank.

Davies fed Jack Beech and his cross caused havoc among the visiting defence with the Llandovery youngsters putting their bodies on the line to fend off a series of shots.

The ball eventually fell to Allen George who fired home with a powerful right-footed strike.

A second followed around five minutes later when Cian Anderson picked up the ball in the Llandovery half.

The central midfielder drifted past two Llandovery defenders before smashing a fierce 20-yard strike into the back of the net.

Llandovery refused to give up and pulled one back shortly afterwards with the winger getting through to finish calmly.

The visitors pushed on in search of an equaliser, but Ammanford held out to earn their second win of the season.

The result sees Ammanford climb to ninth while struggling Llandovery remain bottom of the league.
