Penybanc Ladies kicked off their winter campaign recently - and did it in style with a smart new playing kit.

Principality Building Society has stepped up to sponsor the side, who turned in a glittering performance in their new kit with a 15-12 victory over Abergele Ladies in round one of the Supercup Pool C.

The building society has provided 20 new kits for the Panthers.

The team, which was only formed last year, is the only women’s team currently operating anywhere in the Amman Valley and will compete in the WRU Ladies Division Three South league.

Julie Evans, Principality West Wales Regional Manager said: “We are proud to be part of our communities and we are delighted to be playing a part in supporting women’s rugby, which is something new to the area. Hopefully Penybanc Panthers will encourage other women’s teams to start-up in the area to increase participation and competition.”

Hywel Thomas, Team Manager at Penybanc Panthers, said: “We are extremely grateful to Principality for sponsoring our new kit they will really help us to look the part when we play against other teams.

"After a successful launch of the team last year we hope that we will be able to encourage more ladies to join us and make this team really competitive in the Welsh leagues.”

"Principality has contributed to a variety of similar causes in the past year, including sponsoring Garden Village Football Club and the Swansea Cygnets as well as musical group Abbey Players.
