West Wales U13s Cup
Saron 2 Dunvant & Three Crosses 2 aet
(Saron win 4-3 on penalties)
Saron’s history-makers have been at it again. Last season they became the first Saron team to win a league - they are now the first from the club to reach the quarter-finals of the West Wales Cup.
The early exchanges proved fairly even until Dunvant took the lead with an effort from outside the box.
Saron dominated for long periods with a number of efforts fizzing wide, but a silly freekick on the edge of the area saw them chasing a two-goal deficit.
The hosts continued to press but a combination of poor finishing and dogged defence kept them at bay until the interval.
After the break, Saron restarted brightly and got their just rewards when Sean fired home after a succession of corners.
With their tails up Saron's tails saw saw two efforts cleared off the line before Carwyn grabbed a deserved leveller.
Extra time followed a similar pattern with Saron pushing forward and creating the better chances until Tizz was dismissed for a second yellow card.
Saron's ten men held on to force a penalty shoot out where Garin pulled off three superb saves and Callan smashed home the spotkick to take the youngsters into the last eight.
