Division Six West

Llansawel 0 Llandybie 26

Playing their first match since before the Christmas break, Llandybie travelled to basement side Llansawel hopeful of continuing their good league form.

Due to the heavy rain the night before the conditions proved far from conducive to running rugby but both sides were happy to play in the heavy conditions.

Llandybie took an early lead from a five-metre drive as Dylan Cooper dived over for a try converted by Robert Goodfellow.

The visitors went further ahead with a sweeping cross field move finished by Dafydd Nicholas in the corner, again converted by Goodfellow.

With conditions getting worse the pitch turned into a mudbath.

Captain Andrew Thomas dominated the line-outs for Llandybie and the visitors also got on top in the scrums with Dai Lloyd having a fine game.

They scored an early try in second period, from another forward drive from a lineout as Tracy Lewis crashed over, with Goodfellow again adding the conversion.

LLansawel’s young side found the going difficult, but earned great credit for their strong showing as they continued to put their bodies on the line with tackle after crunching tackle.

With five minutes to go Tybie completed the scoring. From a pick-up-and-drive No8 Lyndon Davies crashed over to earn his men a crucial bonus point.

Llandybie remain top of the league with a perfect nine wins from nine games record.

Next week Llandybie host second-bottom Fall Bay while Llansawel travel to Tregaron.
