Bryn Rovers 2 Giants Grave 3

Champions Bryn welcomed Grave to Brynaman for a top of the table clash in what was a make or break clash for the home side.

Bryn had their tactics spot on and were the better side in the first half as they battled Grave with the midfield of Cerith Morgan, Carwyn Sheldon and Daniel Griffiths dominating the vastly experienced Grave midfield trio.

Fielding a side with an average age of 22, and the future does look bright for the hosts, but they were undone by a late goal as the visitors snatched the points.

Grave were relieved to escape a red card in the first minute for a deliberate hand ball after good work by Julian Jones. A Chris Jones freekick opened the scoring for the hosts, but Grave levelled before the break despite Arwel Davies impressing between the Bryn sticks.

The second half saw Grave on top but against the run of play Jones fired home at the back post to edge the hosts back in front.

Bryn lost Karl Jones to injury and were forced into a defensive reshuffle, allowing Grave to hit back when Dan Richards allowed his man too much space at the back post.

With 15 minutes left Bryn engineer a two-against-one chance on the edge of the Grave box. When Eifion Rogers slid a ball through for Jones his shot sailed wide of the mark.

A mistake by Aeron Williams allowed Grave to cross for a headed goal to level and Bryn hearts were broken when a late headed saw victory and all three fought go to the visitors.
