Division Four West

Penybanc 26 Lampeter 14

Title-chasing Banc welcomed Lampeter for the first time in many years with both teams eyeing the top of the table.

The visitors started well and took a 3-0 lead before sustained Banc pressure saw centre Mathew Brayley drive over. Fly-half Mathew Lloyd added the extras.

The big Lampeter forwards worked their socks off but the home defence stood firm until a missed tackle allowed the away centre to sprint over.

Both kickers slotted another penalty before the ref brought the curtain down on an entertaining first half.

Replacement fly-half Owen Higgins was soon in the thick of the action after the restart before despatching two well-struck penalties to put the Tigers 16-11 ahead with 20 minutes to go.

Full back Wayne Williams kicked an opportunist drop goal shortly after to pull Banc further clear before scrum-half Ioan Jones was forced off injured.

With time running out, Lampeter threw everything at the hosts were rewarded with a penalty to bring them into bonus point territory.

They earned several penalties and created a great overlap only for Christian Madge to intercept and run in from 60m to secure the win.
