Swalec Bowl – Round Two
Fall Bay 0 Ystradgynlais 49
Ystradgynlais travelled west to face Fall Bay in the second round of the Swalec Bowl and cruised into the next round of the Bowl.
The two sides met at this stage last season with the boys from the Gower romping to a convincing victory.
Fortunately 12 months is a long time in sport with Ystrad managing to turn the result in their favour.
Ystrad began positively and maintained that attitude until the final whistle.
The home side boasted a larger pack but were shocked by some powerful Blue scummaging and big hits.
The pack was certainly boosted by the first start of the season for coach Vernon Cooper looking to build match fitness before his trip to Bermuda with the Classic Lions.
The Blues scored seven tries during the game thanks to a solid platform provided by the hard-working pack.
The backs, led by veteran centre Sean Harries, made the most of possession and have certainly become more clinical in past few weeks.
The tries were scored by wing Liam Harris, centres Sean Harries and Ian Evans with second row pairing Scott Davies and Mathew Owen picking up a try each.
There was also a brace for flying winger Emyr Addey.
Tom Blizzard continues to punish teams for their indiscipline with 14 points from the boot.
