Price break proves costly for Snooker World

Penygroes RFC were grateful to Paul Crippin, Paul Garritty, Jac Evans and Jeff Jones for their 5-2 success over Legion Whites in the Llanelli Snooker First Division, writes Byron Evans.
Richard Davies, Dar Sigsworth and Liam McGhee edged a 4-3 win for Llandybie RFC against Upper Tumble Blues. Nick Walters, Joe Evans and C Rees replied.
Cross Hands B were 4-3 winners at Llandybie Social A, while Bernard Price’s superb 80 break proved the instrumental as Morfa claimed an aggregate 4-3 win at Snooker World. Dafydd Lewis, Alan Jones and Simon Bowen replied for the Ammanford men.
Elsewhere, Anthony Pritchard made a fine 58 clearance as Llanesco B posted a 5-2 victory over Pont Cons A, whose winning duo were Simon Williams and Gwyn Williams.
New Lodge A beat Pontardulais Workmens’ 5-2, while Electric B were beaten 4-3 by Matchroom B.
In the second dvision, Nick Davies’ 50 break was a highlight in Garnant Club’s convincing 6-1 victory against Llanelli Cons B. Steve Lewis, Lyn Hopkin, Rhys Fisher and Keith Williams also winning.
Carway A suffered a 5-2 reversal to Burry Port Reading Room Reds, and Reading Room Blues earned a 5-2 win against Llanesco A.
Terry Morgan provided New Lodge B’s solitary point from a 6-1 loss at Bryn & Trallwm whereas Electric B won 4-3 at Llanelli Cons A.
Gorseinon A crashed 7-0 at Tycroes RFC A, Martin Davies, Mike Davies, Geoff Jones, Tim Lewis, Matthew Bromham and Steve Francis completing the rout.
In Division Three, Tycroes RFC completed a memorable night for the club, emulating their A side with a 7-0 thumping of hosts at Upper Tumble Reds, thanks to Steff Davies, Colin Jones, Clive Jones, Raymond Davies, Matthew Davies and Stuart Williams.
Llandybie Social B almost matched them, winning 6-1 at Loughor, thanks to James Hagley, Christian Morris, Dennis Williams, Geraint Rees and Alan Thomas. Only Matthew Donald stopped the rot.
Julian Williams, Tom Carey and Geraint Thomas edged a 4-3 win for Pont Cons C at Llandeilo Hall. Adam Challis, Bob Cash and Richard Friend won for Llandeilo.
Carway B sank to a 5-2 defeat at Pont Cons B where Lee O’Neill, Phil Evans, Adrian Thomas and Alan Hiddlestone won for Bont.
Calsonic Rivals posted a 4-3 win at Cross Hands A, whose frame-winners were Gareth Jones and Richard Griffiths.
In the Knockout Cup, Pont Cons won the derby clash with Pontardulais Workmens 4-0 with Steve Doughton (40), Simon Williams (45), Paul Doughton and Gwyn Williams all winning.
