Jones double fires Caerbryn to first points of campaign

After two consecutive defeats, Caerbryn finally got their just rewards with their first three points of the season.
The Towy Valley side have struggled with injuries and player availability, but they were able to beat a poor Burry Port side and kick-start their season.
Caerbryn played some attractive football from the off and created a number of clear-cut chances but failed to find the net in the first half.
After the interval, the hosts picked up the pace and in the 55th minute Keiran Jones collected the ball just outside the box and delivered a fine strike that left the keeper flatfooted to give his side a 1-0 advantage.
The Caerbryn defence looked solid throughout and dealt were able to snuff out the visitors’ attacks.
In the 75th minute, Caerbryn extended their lead with another spectacular effort from man-of-the-match Jones who lobbed the keeper from just inside the box to extend the hosts’ advantage.
Caerbryn eventually ran out comfortable winners.
The win will prove a welcome confidence boost for Caerbryn who entertain Tumble on Wednesday night.
Carmarthenshire League Reserve Division Two Pontarddulais Reserves 1 Caerbryn Reserves 2 After starting the season with a win in midweek Caerbryn went into the game in confident mood but Pontarddulais came out of the blocks firing and went ahead through an early penalty.
However, the hosts soon settled with Eirian Sinclair and Dai Martin winning the midfield battle.
They levelled through left back Jamie Davies who ran into space and fired home from 25 yards.
After the interval, Caerbryn dominated, creating chance after chance with Dale Thomas unlucky not to find the net.
They continued to apply the pressure but it was not until late on that Cellan Williams’ pinpoint cross was headed home by Justin Thomas to secure the points.

In the first game of the season both teams looked to start the campaign with a win but it was Caerbryn who started the better playing some good football testing the Burry Port keeper on a few occasions and at around the half hour mark the pressure told when Port failed to clear a corner by Jason Carrod and the ball found itself at the feet of Jonathan Edwards who smashed the ball home from 3 yards out.
This seemed to get Port going and started to get more involved in the game but failed to really create any chances and it stayed 1-0 at half time.
The 2nd half saw Caerbryn come firing out of the blocks with wingers Cellan Williams and Jason Carrod causing the Burry Port defence real problems but just could not get the 2nd goal until a fantastic counter attack saw Justin Thomas through on goal who squared the ball for Carrod to finish in the empty net.
To there credit Port never gave up and threw everything they had at the back four of Jamie Davies, Luke Laidler, Geraint-Newton-Walker and Darren Jones who to his credit won everything in the air held firm with some help from keeper Ben Jackson, A clean sheet and 3 points to start the season for Caerbryn with every player giving 100%
