Carmarthenshire Reserve Division Two
Ammanford 1 Johnstown Utd 1
Ammanford's second fixture of the season saw last year's runners up hosting the league champions and the visit of Johnstown proved a tough challenge for the younsters.
The visitors took an early lead when some sloppy defending from Ammanford allowed the Johnstown forward to rise unchallenged and head home.
The visitors dominated much of the first half until Sion Allen was able to prod the ball into the net after the Johnstown keeper spilled a Joe Kinsey corner.
The second half saw Ammanford settle and they played some neat football from the back with Dylan Thomas and Hugh Conway spreading the play.
But the visitors remained a danger and Ammanford stopper Darren Warnes pulled off several great saves to keep his side in it.
Scott Vobe, George Langston and Chris Grylls worked hard up front for Ammanford while Steffan Howells impressed on the flanks.
The game ended with a draw and a well-earned point for Ammanford who can be pleased to have held last year's best side.
Ammanford 2 Pegelli 2
Ammanford started life in the higher division slowly against a talented Pengelli outfit in midweek.
Within ten minutes, sloppy defending gifted Pengelli an early opener.
Despite some good control in midfield from Jake Webb and Gavin Thomas, Ammanford could not get into their stride and were glad to see half time arrive.
The second half saw an early equaliser from Webb and the team began to play some neat football from the back with impressive displays from Lloyd Bevan and Jack Conway.
Dan Quick scored a great goal from being set up by Kyle Wells to get the team back in the driving seat and Jake Baker had a great performance up front.
It was all Ammanford right up to the last few minutes when Pengelli levelled with a breakaway goal.
The hosts deserved to start the campaign with three points, but after their slow first half the team cannot be too unhappy with one.
