IN THE first game since Christmas, Ammanford shook off any rustiness to take an early lead thanks to a cracking Lucy Packer strike.

The hosts dominated from the off with Lowri Harries dominant in defence, and it was the centre-half’s long ball which released Chantel Mann who struck a fierce effort which proved too much for the Llan ’keeper.

Grace Rees-Swain and Ffion Morgan combined well in midfield to release Mann who fired fired home Ammanford’s third for a comfortable interval lead.

After the break the impressive Nia Rees spurned several chances before finishing off a fine team move to make it four for the hosts.

Captain Maya Conway marshalled her back-line well to limit the visitors’ chances, but Llangyfelach pulled a couple of goals back despite Ayesha Fairclough producing a couple of great saves. Lucy Packer ended all Llan hopes of a late revival when she rounded two defenders to fire home.

Ammanford Girls are planning to run U16 (Years 10 and 11) and U14 (Years 8 and 9) teams next year. Training takes place at Amman Valley School astro turf every Thursday between 5pm and 6pm.
