DESPITE winning-efforts from Simon Williams (66 break) and Paul Doughton (26 break, 22 clearance) to help earn the aggregate point, Pontarddulais ConsA went down 4-3 to Llanelli Snooker League title-holders Legion Whites.
Elsewhere, Alan Jones, Dai Luce and Elwyn Lewis gave Snooker World, Ammanford, a fine 4-3 victory against Llandybie RFC, who hit back via Anthony Krysa, Richard Davies and Rhodri Treharne.
Matchroom A suffered a 5- 2 setback at Pontarddulais Workmens’ where Steve Dunn, David Gabe, Adam Griffiths and Mike Footman won for Bont.
Burry Port Reading Room Blues edged a 4-3 win at Penygroes RFC. Jeff Jones, J Evans and Chris Waters struck for the RFC. New Lodge B defeated Llandybie Social A 4-3 thanks to the efforts of Mike Wood, Derek Morgan and Ian Hall while Lyndsey Pugh, Huw Morgan and Karl Evans won for the visitors.
Llanesco B suffered a 5-2 loss at home to lowly New Lodge A.
In Division Two, the wheels well and truly came off for Garnant Club with Nick Davies their solitary frame-winner in a 6-1 drubbing at Electric C.
Meanwhile, Rhodri Llewelyn was among the winners as CGMD, Glanaman, lost 5-2 to Carway A. Joe Evans provided Upper Tumble Blues’ only point in a disappointing 6-1 defeat at lowly Carway B, while Electric B edged a 4-3 victory at Tycroes RFC A.
For the rugby club, S Davies and Geoff Jones helped rescue the aggregate.
Llanelli Cons B sneaked to a 4-3 success against Cross Hands A – D Mills, Lyn Morgan and Roy Foster struck for the latter.
Elsewhere, Pontyberem Workmens’ were grateful to Kieran Evans, Kevin Sellwood, Craig Rees and Alun Harris who all ran out winners in a 5-2 victory at Burry Port Reading Room Reds.
In the third division, Llanesco A continued their good form, winning again with a 5-2 triumph at Upper Tumble Reds. Brian Thomas and Chris Abbot won for Tumble.
Another Tumble side, Great Mountain, also tasted defeat – 5-2 against Pontarddulais Cons C, despite winning frames from Endaf Jones and S.Williams. Steve Evans, Dai Mayhew, Ben Roberts and Kristian Rees (34 clearance) won for the visitors.
Burry Port Legion Reds posted a 5-2 win against Pontarddulais Cons B, whose winning duo were Jamie Bishop and Ian Lewis.
Calsonic Rivals dropped just the one frame, to C Jones, in seeing off TycroesRFCB6-1, whereas Llandybie Social B defeated Loughor 5-2 following wins fromRoger Hunter, Dennis Williams, N Perry and James Hagley, Matthew Donald and Mark Jones struck for Loughor.
Paul Doughton made a superb 88 break in Pontarddulais Cons A’s 4-1 Worthington Cup victory against Burry Port Reading Room Reds.
Steve Doughton, Lee O’Neill and Gwyn Williams added further wins for Bont.
