Division Five South West

ON A rain and windswept day, league leaders Penybanc to Port Talbot to face fourth-placed Baglan.

Banc kicked off with the wind and the boot of Mathew Lloyd soon put them 3-0 up.

With the pack on top from the first and flanker Lyndon Davies to the fore, a scrum on the home line saw No8 Chris Jones pulled down just short.

But the quickly-recycled ball saw lock Mark Jones barge over.

Chris Jones was also soon rewarded for his endeavour with a try of his own before a fine offload from centre Andrew Brayley allowed hard-working wing Andy McCall to claim a score.

More forward pressure yielded another score for lock Jones and Lloyd added his third conversion for a 27-0 half-time lead.

The second half saw more of the same with workhorses Carl Rees and Gethin Harries putting in the hard yards.

Harries was rewarded with a try from a maul, before Steve Richards added another from an identical rolling maul.

With the pack totally on top and turning the screw, Mark Jones claimed his hat-trick and Chris Jones notched his second with the last play of the game.

Banc are on the road again next week when they travel to New Dock Stars in the Swalec Bowl.
