PONTY SENIORS - On September 25, the seniors enjoyed one of the nicest trips so far this season, when first of all they went as far as Gorseinon to enjoy a carvery lunch that went down very well with all the members. Following that, they travelled then to Henllan, near Newcastle Emlyn to visit a former prisoner of war camp that housed a lot of Italian prisoners. This is a very popular place and much in demand with tourists, as one of the buildings, was renovated inside to resemble a church, with religious paintings created by one of the prisoners e.g the last supper and various biblical figures. This trip was booked well in advance as it is so popular. Some of the members were heard to remark that they wouldn't have missed this for anything. it was a nice day and equally a nice trip.

This guided tour was carried out by Mr Meirion Jones, who during the years made a good job of learning the Italian language.

PONTY SENIORS - A trio of excellent quality came to the neuadd to entertain on Friday evening. The Lewis soprano, Paul Morgan, BAss Baritone and Chris Pyke piano, did a very good job to entertain our members. We had solos, duets, and fabulous piano playing, and also some really good humorous stories and readings.

CWMTAWE COMMUNITY SCHOOL - Welsh - At the Urdd Eisteddfod, a group of enthusiastic girls from years 7-8-9 competed in the second language group recitation competition.

Emily Jones, one of the deputy head girls, also competed in the individual recitation competition. Unfortunately neither one a prize this year, but the unique environment of the Eisteddfod afforded them the opportunity to practise speaking Welsh.

CWMTAWE POWERLIFTERS - The lifters, under Ken Williams, are just back from Northern Ireland as part of the four nation competition. According to Ken, they did just as well as their Irish competitors and are now looking forward to the next competition.
