SAD LOSS - His numerous friends were saddened at news of the peaceful passing away, at Glangwili Hospital, Carmarthen on New Years Day, of a well-known and much-liked local man, Mr Jim Williams of Colbren Road,Gwaun cae Gurwen ,at the age of 65.

Jim, a native of Pontarddulais originally, formerly worked at Betws and Merthyr Mawr collieries, and was also employed at Albion Concrete. Jim, who enjoyed a game if bingo in his leisure time, also had a great passion for locomotive trains and railways.

Our deepest sympathy is expressed his wife Marlene and all the family on their great loss. Jim was also a loving stepfather of Christopher, devoted “Cu” of Teifion and Trystan,a dear brother of John, and fond brother in law of Sylvia, Gillian and Freddie.

The funeral took place at Llanelli Crematorium on MondayJanuary 13). Donations, in lieu of flowers, towards Glangwili’s Critical Care Unit, or Hafan Dementia Care, are being accepted by Evan Rees and Hywel Griffiths (Funeral Directors), 98, Heol cae Gurwen, GCG.
