CHURCH SERVICES - Ebenezer Community Church, Sunday, November 24: 10.30am, worship and communion. Monday 6pm to 7.30pm, kids club for ages nine-15 years, with various table games and free wi-fi. Tuesday, 7pm Bible Study. The coffee morning is closed until further notice.

LLANDYBIE MU - Membes of Llandybie Mothers Union met at the Church hall on Tuesday, November 19. The meeting began with prayers led by the vicar Rev Ann Howells.

Lilith Grey took the chair in teh absence of enrolling member Annie Rees who sent her apologies. There were a few other members she had sent their apologies. There was a minutes' silence in memory of Betty Stonehouse, a stalwart member of Llandybie MU who passed away recently. Get well wishes go to Dora DAvies who has been in hospital. Marion Evans read the minutes of last month's meeting which were adopted. Phyl Grey's 100th birthday party on November 8 went well in Glanmarlais.

Arrangements are in hand for the Christmas dinner on December 3 in the Red Lion. On December 4 the Deanery Advent ser vice takes place in Tycroes at 6pm. Next month's meeting in Glanmarlais for carols and readings. Next Monday, November 25 there is a fund raising event for the Philippines disaster in the Pensioners' hall Llandybie. Mission overseas boxes are due to be handed in.

The vicar stood in for the arranged speaker Brenda Evans who is in hospital and she spoke about Uganda which she has visited several times.

It was a very interesting talk Marion Evans gave a proposal of thanks.

December 2: Christmas lights at St Tybie's Church. Ammanford Lions club are inviting people to sponsor a light in memory of a loved one.

The lights will be switched on at 7pm during a short ceremony wit carol singing, Ammanford town silver band and Llandybie school choir.

LLANDYBIE OAP NEWS – The committee and members would like to thank everyone who donated and supported our Christmas fayre and raffle again this year.

Our last meeting before Christmas will be on Monday, December 2 at 1.30pm instead of 2pm, as there is going to be entertainment by Ammanford mixed choir. Diolch yn fawr.

On Wednesday, December 11 there will be a Christmas Whist Drive at our old age pensioners’ hall, (next to the charity shop), with refreshments and a raffle. Anyone who enjoys whist will be warmly welcomed, doors open at 6.30pm.

Fe wnaeth y Cadeirydd, Tom L Jones estyn croeso cynnes i bawb ar ddechrau'r noson. Soniodd yr Ysgrifennydd Ron Isaac am yr aelodau oedd yn methu bod gyda ni oherwydd afiechyd gan ddymuno adferiad buan iddynt. Wedi i Mr Dewi Daniel offrymu'r fendith fe wnaeth pawb fwynhau pryd hyfryd o fwyd.

Ein gwr gwadd am y mis oedd yr Athro Delme Bowen, ac fe gafwyd anerchiad cofiadwy a hynod ddiddorol ganddo. Bu'n son am yr amser a dreuliodd yn fachgen yn Llanedi ynghyd a thipyn o'i hanes cynnar. Soniodd am ei gyfnod fel myfyriwr ym Mhrifysgol Caerdydd lle y gwnaeth fwynhau yn fawr astudio swoleg. Cawsom ei hanes fel Cynghorwr Plaid Cymru am flynyddoedd yn ardal Caerdydd a chael ei ethol yn Arglwydd Faer y Brifddinas. Yna aeth ymlaen i son am y gwaith ymchwil y bu yn ei wneud ym maes y gennynau a'r celloedd ym Mhrifysgol Caerdydd. Diolchwyd yn gynnes iddo am noson i'w chofio gan ei gyfaill Mr Raymond Thomas.
