A police constable forced to a disciplinary hearing over claims he took a tin of biscuits from a colleague and needlessly drove a police van in response mode has been cleared of any wrongdoing.

Pc Thomas Hooper, based in Kingston, will return to full duties after appearing before a Metropolitan Police disciplinary panel this week.

The panel found that there was no case to answer over claims that he took the sweet treats, belonging to another officer, in May 2016.

It also cleared him over allegations that in the same month he applied for a traffic ticket to be cancelled after he triggered a speed camera while driving a police van.

It had been claimed that Pc Hooper was driving the van in response mode unnecessarily.
