The teenager accused of the brutal murder of Ammanford hairdresser Kelly Hyde is "made of ice", Swansea Crown Court has been told today.

During his closing speech at the end of the three-week trial, prosecutor Patrick Harrington QC claimed the 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had "lied his head off" to police and in the witness box.

"He is a very dangerous and also a very cold individual," said Mr Harrington.

"Most of what he said in interview was lies and his story altered as he was confronted by evidence.

"He demonstrated a remarkable facility in those early interviews. He lied and lied and lied."

"One of the most remarkable aspects of this case is the composure he has shown - made of ice is the impression you might have got," Mr Harrington told the jury.

He described the boy, who has been accused of beating the 24-year-old to death with a 2.5kg weight during an onslaught that left her with dozens of skull fractures and broken bones, as "utterly impassive".
