MEMBERS of Prestwood's Forget Me Not Club were treated to an afternoon of music and delicacies when they celebrated the club's 40th birthday, last Tuesday.

90-year-old Vi Burchmore, from Prestwood Village, who will celebrate her own birthday this month, was guest of honour at the party at Prestwood Village Hall, Wycombe Road.

She had the honour of cutting the giant rich fruit cake adorned with a posy of forget me nots, specially baked for the big day.

The usual AGM formalities were swept aside and pensioners began their day with a sit-down lunch followed by presentations by club secretary Margaret Lewis.

But the highlight of the afternoon was when eight ladies that make up the Amersham Old Town Follies delighted guests when they put on a show of songs, dancing and sketches.

"It was a fantastic day and we hope that the club will continue going from strength to strength," said Mrs Lewis, 65, from Greenlands Lane, Prestwood.

"We are always delighted to welcome new members and it really is a friendly active group where a lot of fun can be had.

"Anyone over 60 who lives in the area should come along to our meetings to meet new friends and enjoy themselves.

"We organise mystery tours and other great days out throughout the year, and even get together to enjoy a wonderful Christmas dinner when the season is upon us."

Meetings take place on the first Tuesday of every month in Prestwood Village Hall.
