A ROAD, which has been classed as failed for more than two years, will finally receive reconstruction work.
Arshad Khan, an area traffic engineer for Oxfordshire County Council, wrote a letter to Chinnor Parish Council, informing them reconstruction work will start on Mill Lane, Chinnor, on July 30. The road will be closed for four weeks.
Mill Lane has been classed as a failed road because of the poor state of the highway. Residents and councillors have condemned the delays in mending it.
It has been a problem for more than six years and parish councillors, meeting on Monday, were pleased that the work is finally going ahead.
Access for residents will be maintained subject to progress of the works. Buses, used to transport children to and from Mill Lane School, will be re-routed through the village.
