A WOMAN narrowly escaped being abducted by a man who tried to pull her into his car when he approached her for directions.
The 41-year-old woman was walking along Moor Road, Chesham, at about 1pm last Wednesday when a man driving a grey Volvo or Audi saloon pulled up on the kerb in front of her.
He got out of the vehicle and asked her to direct him to Amersham before telling her to get into the car.
The man then grabbed the woman by the wrists and tried to force her into the vehicle but she managed to break free and run off.
The offender is described as white, in his 50s, and approximately 6ft tall, of a broad build with grey balding hair.
He also had a black moustache which is greying. He was smartly dressed.
His car had damage to the front nearside wing with no indicator or rear registration number plate.
Kate Spark, spokesman for Thames Valley Police, said: "Incidents like this are extremely rare but I would urge people to remain vigilant."
Witnesses or anyone with information should call DC Scot Collins at Amersham CID on 01494 465888
