ON behalf of Meningitis Research Foundation, I would like to thank a local woman, Barbera Mabbitt of Great Kingshill, for donating in excess of £400 to the charity.
This money was raised through a tandem parachute jump from 10,000 feet at Weston on the Green in Oxfordshire.
Bravely she did the jump on her 32nd birthday, killing two birds with one stone so to speak by fulfilling a personal ambition and doing something fantastic for the foundation as well.
She can't wait to repeat the experience but next time she will be stepping out on her own.
Meningitis Research Foundation funds scientific research into meningitis and septicaemia the blood poisoning and most life threatening form of the disease raises awareness of their symptoms and offers support to those whose lives have been touched by these devastating diseases.
The Foundation is almost entirely funded through public donations and while the meningitis C vaccine has been a resounding success in reducing cases of this type of meningococcal disease, there are further strains of meningitis and septicaemia that are not yet vaccine preventable and so the charity's vital work continues.
If you would like to support Meningitis Research Foundation please call our fundraising team on 01454 281814.
We also have a Freefone 24 hour helpline on 080 8800 3344.
