RESIDENTS in Chinnor and Thame are still paying more council tax than the average South Oxfordshire resident.
The tax on Chinnor properties in Band D rose from £851.86 to £909.88, an increase of 6.8 per cent. On average, residents will have to pay an increase of £1.12 a week to the council.
Thame residents in Band D properties face a rise of £57.86 to £946.74, an increase of 6.5 per cent. The increases mean residents in Thame have to pay an extra £1.11 a week on average.
The average council tax for a South Oxfordshire District Council Band D property is £904.26 but Chinnor and Thame residents have to pay more because their councils also set taxes. Chinnor residents only have to pay an extra £5.62 but the council tax for Thame residents is an extra £42.48.
Jan Morgan, council leader of South Oxfordshire District Council, said the overall budget would enable the district council to maintain and enhance services.
