THAME boss Andy Sinnott insists his side will put their backroom turmoil behind them and win promotion.

He says United will get over the loss of sacked assistant boss Alan Thorne and put their season back on target after one of the most turbulent periods in their history.

Thorne was relieved of his duties following comments made to Aylesbury United players and their officials and the first division leaders have been in freefall ever since.

Coach Peter Lamont also walked out because Sinnott appointed striker Mark West as his assistant instead of him.

Sinnott said: "We've had an awful February for results but that's in the past now. People will pinpoint the upheaval but I don't believe that has been the problem.

"We've had a lot of injuries and we had our goalkeeper sent off in one game after four minutes."

He is confident that Thame will pick up again and says with West alongside him, he can form a management team to continue the excellent progress he and Thorne made.

He said: "I appointed Mark because I think he is the best one for the job. He's got a good career in management ahead of him and if we didn't offer it to him then someone else would have done."

But on matchdays West first proprity will remain as a player banging the goals in to secure Thame's promotion.

Sinnott said: "The whole dressing room is behind us. We've got to be positive and look forward now. Our current form has been dreadful but we must put that behind us. We've got 12 games left and six wins will take us up and eight or nine wins would make us champions."

Thame welcome back keeper Ian Moores after his suspension when they entertain Whyteleafe on Saturday.

Moores was missing last Saturday when Thame lost 4-1 at Uxbridge despite dominating the game.
