PLANS are a stage further to build a new block of affordable homes on council land at Foxes Piece after residents gave the scheme the thumbs up.

Wycombe District Council's housing and economic development committee agreed that a housing association should be found to provide the ten new homes and improve the site in Marlow.

People already living at Foxes Piece have been consulted about the scheme and at the committee meeting last week Marlow councillor Doug Anson said they had liked it.

Committee chairman Peter Cartwright said new homes on the existing site would make life better there and provide ten more family homes in a central Marlow location.

James Campbell, a Marlow town councillor, welcomed the step forward.

He said: "It is absolutely excellent if it is all for affordable housing in Marlow. We need as much of it in the town as possible.

"The young folk simply can't afford to buy here."
