TEACHERS and support staff at one of the highest achieving primary schools in the country have just received a £2,730 award from the Government.

Bisham Primary School, which recently topped the Standard Assessment Test league table for Windsor and Maidenhead with a 100 per cent pass rate, received the School Achievement Award this week.

Tim Boissaud-Cook, chairman of governors, said: "This is an excellent result for the school and reflects the hard work put in by both staff and pupils.

"It is especially pleasing that the money received has to go directly to the teaching and support staff, who are key to Bisham's continuing success."

The school, in Church Lane, was recognised for achieving better results in 2000 than most schools in similar circumstances.

The money will now be distributed among teachers and support staff and is designed to celebrate and reward their efforts.

The school is now looking forward to opening their long awaited new sports hall in June.
