SCHOOLGIRLS are demanding their school takes action to resurface a student car park which they claim is damaging their cars.

A-level students at Wycombe High School pay £12 a term to park in the pupils' car park in the school grounds off Marlow Hill, High Wycombe.

But some girls are angry because they claim the gravelled parking area is peppered with potholes and is becoming increasingly dangerous.

Sixth former Laura Bennett, who has just spent £150 on her car's suspension, claims pupils have been asking for improvements since last September.

The 18-year-old, of Barley Close, Hazlemere, explained: "We want the potholes sorted out. We pay £12 every term but quite a few pupils haven't paid this term and the school is kicking up quite a fuss about that.

"We have asked them to sort it out but nothing has been done. I'm a student. I can't afford to be spending money on fixing my car."

Laura claims that on an average day about 50 students park at the school.

She added: "The teachers' car park is lovely the student car park needs to become a proper car park for us."

John Tucker, head of Sixth Form at Wycombe High School, explained the order to repair the car park had been made to contractors a long time ago.

Mr Tucker, who spoke to the school's site manager last Thursday, added: "It's not that the girls' concerns are being ignored. It literally is that with all the rain and everything else the contractors have had to wait until the weather conditions improve."
