A LAND Rover had to be disinfected because of foot and mouth fears before it jetted off to help a charity's work in Africa.
The Land Rover was bought by Save the Children for their work in Burundi.
But there were problems getting a flight out to the African country because of its civil war.
Cave Wood Transportation, of Coronation Road, Cressex, stepped in and offered to transport the Land Rover to Ostend but further problems arose.
Because of foot and mouth fears, the authorities there wanted the vehicle completely decontaminated .
Business manager for Cave Wood Dave Perfect rang Murray Kent, whose brother is the manager of Beechdean Dairies, Speen Road, North Dean, who offered to help.
Murray Kent said: "We had a request to thoroughly disinfect the vehicle."
Mr Perfect said: "We're doing the job through the charity Relief. It's good to get involved."
The Land Rover was disinfected on Thursday and flown to Burundi, via Ethiopia.
