STRIKER Jefferson Louis could see his football career in tatters after being found guilty of dangerous driving.

The Thame United player told Aylesbury Crown Court he was going to join newly-promoted Football League club Rushden and Diamonds but was warned by Judge David Morton Jack that he could be given a prison term.

The jury rejected claims by Louis, 22, of Fremantle Road, Aylesbury, that police officers had lied in their evidence.

Louis had pleaded not guilty to driving a Renault Clio dangerously in a car park and in Exchange Street, Aylesbury, on March 18 last year.

Jill Hurworth, prosecuting, said Louis was wanted on a warrant at the time, and officers had gone to the car park in Exchange Street after receiving information that Louis was there.

She said that Louis sped from the car park and ignored efforts by officers to make him stop.

Louis crashed into a parked police car after a window was smashed by a police baton, then jumped out of the car and fled on foot. He was later caught and handcuffed.

Judge David Morton Jack adjourned sentence for three weeks for a pre-sentence report and bailed Louis, telling him: "All options remain open."
