THE father of Brett Cove, who died following a house fire, described his son as an energetic and dynamic person who is sorely missed.

Paul Cove, who lived with his son in Honor Wood Close, Prestwood, said he will miss him as his best friend and business partner.

Paul said: "He was an exceptional person. I don't want to believe he has gone. We are in denial."

Brett was a sales manager for the family's toy company, and was going to take over the business.

Paul added: "He always thought socialising was more important. In 34 years he lived a lifetime. He was never a nine to five man and I am so pleased he did that. He was such an energetic and dynamic person.

"I lost my wife two years ago and it is so heartbreaking for us. We cannot ever feel complete again. It is the end of an era."

Brett, 34, was born in New Zealand but the family moved to England shortly afterwards and Brett lived all of his life in Prestwood.

He was found dead by firefighters in the garden of the family home following the fire on May 19.

Beverley, his mother, died two years ago from a brain tumour. He was buried next to her at St Mary The Virgin Church in Weston Turville, Aylesbury.

His brother Miles said Brett was a very talented sportsman: "He was an all round sports player. Brett was gifted and dragged other people into it."

Brett was adored by the youth players at Amersham Town Football Club where he was head coach and got them into the finals for the first time in their history.

More than 45 bouquets were laid at Brett's grave, including a wreath from the players. It said: "Thanks for your friendship and loyalty, you lightened up our lives and you will always be remembered fondly."
