ONE of the youngest pilot instructors in the country has attended The Air League awards ceremony at St James Palace with The Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip.

Adrian Lowndes-Knight, 20, of Wendover, who works at Wycombe Air Park at the Wycombe Air Centre as an instructor, received a bursary from The Air League to extend the range of his flying experience.

The awards ceremony, held last month, is one of the most prestigious in the air industry and Adrian was also presented with an official certificate.

He recalled: "I first realised I wanted to be a pilot at the age of three when my grandparents took me along to an airport. Ever since then I wanted to fly.

"When I left school I did not want to go to university so I thought I should just get flying."
