RESIDENTS who protested in their hundreds against plans for a Tesco Express on their doorstep have been told the supermarket chain is appealing against refusal of planning permission.
Wycombe district councillors unanimously refused permission for the store at Marlow Road's Esso petrol station two months ago. Residents had claimed the plan would cause havoc with traffic opposite Desborough Avenue.
Patricia Price of Desborough Avenue said: "It just makes my blood boil especially considering every councillor was against the plan. It will be murderous for everyone and will cause nothing but nuisance, pollution and devastation all round."
Cllr Lesley Clarke (Cons, Cressex and Frogmoor) said: "It's contrary to the local plan which serves to protect smaller shopping parades and when one considers the extra traffic and other problems it should not be allowed to go ahead."
Tesco spokesman Louise Pocock said: "Our plans are simply for a Tesco Convenience Store alongside Esso. There are no proposals for a major supermarket but often people hear the name and assume the worst."
