THE support services to businesses and post-16 education provided by Business Link Thames Valley and Thames Valley Enterprise (TVE) came to an end last Friday when they ceased trading.
They will be replaced by the new Small Business Service and two Learning and Skills Councils, one covering Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire and the other covering Berkshire.
Both organisations began trading on Monday.
Many people who worked within Business Link and TVE have transferred to the new organisations.
A small dedicated team will also remain in place to wind up financial matters and any other issues arising.
Chief executive of the new Business Link is Graeme Finch and its services will be co-ordinated from a new headquarters with a staff of seven, currently based near Aylesbury.
It is planned to provide services on a more local basis with direct access in High Wycombe, more advice and funding for start-up companies and to increase the network of specialist advisers.
Mr Finch said: "Business Link will also continue to nurture cluster groups, such as Biolink in the biotechnology sector and other sectors where growth can be encouraged through working together."
