WYCOMBE Town's 'young guns' claimed their third Premier Division scalp of the season to become the first-ever Sunday Combination Division Two finalists in the Challenge Cup.

Town claimed their spot in the final despite falling behind to a fifth-minute Hithercroft goal. They eventually came back to win it 3-1.

Ben Richards fired Hithercroft into the lead when he was on hand to head home Richard Judd's corner following an intense spell of 'Croft pressure.

Hithercroft enjoyed the better of the first half, but Town's front runners threatened their defence several times and on 35 minutes they got their reward when Sean House was on hand to level the scores.

Hithercroft squandered a golden opportunity to regain the lead, on the stroke of half time, when Paul Sanders' weak penalty kick was easily gathered by the keeper.

And it proved the turning point of the game.

Town came out after the break, grateful for the let-off, and promptly stepped up a gear to unsettle their opponents with some flowing football and lightning strikes from Vinny Cuva and House.

On 61 minutes it was Cuva who found the net to put Town into a deserved 2-1 lead.

Just six minutes later House sealed the victory with number three, leaving Hithercroft too big a task to come back from.

They did make a last ditch effort to regain some pride, but Town's defence closed ranks and dealt comfortably with the threat for manager John Burke's heroes to run out comfortable winners.

Their opponents in the May 6 final at Adams Park are still unknown with the other semi-final between Italia Unita and Plough Inn postponed last weekend. That will now be played at BroomWade Sports (ko 2.30pm) this Sunday.
