A COMPANY has finally been chosen to produce the bronze casting for the statue of Sir Steve Redgrave.
Neale Andrew, the sculptor commissioned to make the statue, chose Burleighfield Arts Limited in Loudwater to produce the cast.
The company is one of the most established bronze foundries in Western Europe and has carried out work for some of the world's greatest sculptors.
Paul Dimishky, managing director of the company, said: "As a locally based arts foundry we are delighted to be associated in such a tangible way with the unique achievements of Sir Steve Redgrave, a very remarkable Englishman."
The statue will be placed outside the conservatory at the back of Court Garden, a few feet down from the footpath towards the river.
It is just a stone's throw from where Sir Steve first stepped into a rowing boat at Marlow Rowing Club.
Hugh McNearnie, chairman of Marlow Redgrave Tribute Appeal, said: "This is very good news. It is most appropriate that Neale has chosen a local foundry.
"I hope it may be possible for Marlow schools to arrange with Burleighfield Arts for older pupils to visit the foundry."
The group has already raised more than £50,000 towards its £100,000 target.
