FIVE workmates at Beaconsfield's Ashington Page estate agents have more reason than most to celebrate Wycombe's historic quarter-final win, after scooping more than £4,000 on an £11 bet.
The five, Lorraine Ratcliffe, Gareth Ashington, Jacquetta Lowen-Cooper, Julie Tonelli and Virginia Williams, decided to stick their necks out and bet on an unlikely 2-1 Wycombe win.
As though that was not risky enough, they took a gamble and upped the stakes and named who they thought would be the first Wycombe scorer on their betting slip.
But they needed to call on Lorraine's son Ben, 12 today, to get an expert prediction. Blues fan Ben, a Wanderers season ticket holder, told his mum to put the money on Paul McCarthy.
His advice turned out to be spot on as Wycombe ran out 2-1 winners with McCarthy netting Blues' opener and the five workmates more than four thousand at odds of over 400-to-one.
Ben said: "When the winning goal went in, I thought it couldn't be happening. I wasn't thinking about the money. I was thinking 'Yes, we're in the semi-final'. It was the best moment in my life."
