CALLOUS thieves have left a daughter heartbroken after stealing jewellery belonging to her late mother three days after the first anniversary of her death.

University student Claire Baldwin, of Ronald Road, Beaconsfield, came back from Kent to comfort her dad who was distraught to find the irreplaceable items had been stolen.

She said: "These were the only things of hers we had left.

"It's completely heartbreaking and these burglars just have no idea what they have taken they are just out for what they can get.

"They were the most treasured items in the whole world to us and it's like suffering her death all over again."

Claire's mother, Mary, was a well-known figure in the town, and worked as an administrator in Bar Med, in Maxwell Road, before her death from cancer last year.

The items taken from the house included a gold locket, a diamond encrusted bracelet, an eternity ring, a green emerald bracelet, an engagement ring, a wedding ring and other family heirlooms.

The theft has led Claire to issue a heartfelt plea to antique dealers in the area to be on their guard for any suspicious items of jewellery.

She said: "If anyone who owns a jewellers gets offered any of these things, we would love them to get in touch with the police."

The burglary took place last Monday while the family were out. Thieves rammed the back door of the property in Ronald Road at around 6pm.
